Our Cannon PTA Officers
Our PTA is made up of hard-working parents & teachers who pool their talents to provide practical support for our school. Those listed below volunteered to provide leadership this year. Get to know their names and faces, and feel free to ask them if you have questions.
Keri Price Grant
I am a very proud mom of a Cannon 5th grader, Sammy. Our family moved to this area in 2014, after extensive research on the best Texas school districts. Sammy started at Glenhope Elementary in 2015, and we transferred to Cannon in 2017 with the GCISD lottery program. I recently retired after 20 years as a Firefighter/Paramedic, and I am currently practicing as a private duty Pediatric RN.
I have always used volunteering as a way of giving back to my community and it “fills my bucket” when I need it the most. I began volunteering at Cannon in 2017 by making copies for teachers, helping with holiday food drives and assisting with student parties and events. In 2018, I was recruited to serve as President Elect for Cannon PTA, and subsequently as President in 2019. Because we did not have a President Elect in 2019, I agreed to an additional term in 2020. I am honored to be serving our great school community and look forward to doing amazing things for our scholars and staff this year.
I am Melissa Bailey and I have a daughter that is a 1st grade student at Cannon this year. Addy loved her first year at Cannon and even though this year will look a little different than usual, we know that Cannon will continue to exceed our expectations at every turn. I am excited to be volunteering with the PTA this year to help support not only our students, but our beloved teachers, administrators and staff as well.
1st Vice President-Membership
I’m Mabrie Burgett and I have 2 students at Cannon. Jack is in the 4th grade and Sawyer will be in Kindergarten. We moved back to Grapevine from Chicago when it was time for my oldest to start school. There was no doubt in my mind that we wanted Cannon to be our school! My father attended Cannon in the 1960’s and so did I in the 1990’s. So, we are a Cannon family through and through! I began helping in PTA by volunteering wherever needed and then moved into working on our events. This year I’ll be heading up Membership. Even though this year will definitely look different for our school I’m looking forward to serving our students and teachers the best I can!
2nd Vice President-Fundraising
Hi! I’m Liz Chalmers and I have three students at three different schools in the district. Matthew is in 10th grade at Grapevine High School, Lauren is in 8th grade at Grapevine Middle School, and my youngest, Rose, is in 3rd grade here at Cannon. Rose is the first Cannon Cub in our family, as she transferred to Cannon through the lottery for Kindergarten. We love our Cannon family and I am happy to serve as your 2nd VP/Fundraising Chair. I have been a PTA volunteer since my oldest was in kindergarten and have worn many hats over the years. I am honored to work alongside our fabulous Cannon PTA members as we strive to make this unique school year as wonderful as ever.
Hello! I’m Lindsey Hopkins, Cannon PTA’s Secretary for the 2020-2021 school year. My husband, Matt, and I have two wonderful children. Our son, Dean, is a former Cannon Cub and a current 6th grade student at Colleyville Middle School. Our daughter, Laney Kate, is a proud 2nd grade Cannon Cub. As an educator, I enjoy working with the Cannon PTA to support the teachers who invest so much into my children. I also enjoy getting to know our Cannon families through our PTA events and meetings. I am looking forward to another great year with Cannon Elementary and the PTA.
After being in the U.S. Army for 8 years and living in multiple states, I was very happy to finally settle down in Texas in 2015. I am originally from Seattle, WA and my husband is from Atlanta, GA. I have two daughters that attend Cannon. My oldest, Elizabeth, started at Bear Creek Elementary and then switched to Cannon through the lottery in 2nd grade. My youngest, Julianna, started at Cannon in Kindergarten. I have been a registered nurse since 2003 and I love that I get to work across the street from Cannon at Baylor Scott & White Grapevine. This will be my second year as treasurer for the Cannon PTA.
Hi, I'm Jennifer Knell, Cannon PTA's Parliamentarian for the 2020-2021 school year. My husband and I have two kiddos who attend Cannon Elementary and we love our Cannon Community! My involvement with PTA began with grade level coordinating, first as co-coordinator, then as coordinator. I've enjoyed supporting the teachers and planning student holiday parties for various grades with our fabulous community of PTA parent volunteers. Additionally, I had the pleasure of serving our school staff organizing events as the PTA Hospitality Chair from 2018-2020. I'm looking forward to volunteering and helping our Cannon Community this year!
