Meet Your PTA Officers
President — Michael Landauer
I'm Michael Landauer, father of fifth-grade twins at Cannon. This is my second year as president and our third year at Cannon. Holly and I were active in PTA at Dove Elementary before we transferred to Cannon, and we quickly discovered a great group of dedicated volunteers helping Cannon weather a pretty tough year. I love how much we have been able to do with such a great group of volunteers, and I know we can do even more this year.
Professionally, I am a marketing executive with GM Financial, based in Fort Worth. I have a background in journalism, having spent more than 18 years at The Dallas Morning News. Most of that time I spent helping to train people to write personal persuasive essays. So helping people find their voice and encouraging them to engage in their community is something that keeps motivating me to do things like this. Have an idea about what we can accomplish together? Please drop me an email!
1st Vice President-Membership — Melissa Bailey
I’m Melissa Bailey and I have a daughter, Addy that will be a 3rd grader at Cannon this year. I am excited to be a membership volunteer this year. Before getting involved with the PTA, I had no idea what PTA did or why it is important to join. I look forward to sharing about all that PTA does and how being a member benefits your child, your family and our school.
2nd Vice President-Fundraising — Lauren Zaffos
After being in the U.S. Army for 8 years and living in multiple states, I was very happy to finally settle down in Texas in 2015. I am originally from Seattle, WA, and my husband is from Atlanta, GA. I have two daughters that attend Cannon. My oldest, Elizabeth, started at Bear Creek Elementary and then switched to Cannon through the lottery in 2nd grade. My youngest, Julianna, started at Cannon in Kindergarten. I have been a registered nurse since 2003 and I love that I get to work across the street from Cannon at Baylor Scott & White Grapevine. This will be my fourth year on the board for the Cannon PTA after three years as Treasurer.
Treasurer — Wendy Caplinger
Secretary — Steffany Batik
I am Steffany Batik, a proud Cannon parent going on 8 years now! My daughter will be continuing her STEM journey at GMS this year, and I have a son in fifth grade. As an educator, there was no other choice for our family but to join this community! I have been a member of the PTA since we came to Cannon, and this is my second year to serve as an officer! I now work for an education non-profit and am enjoying the extra time I now have to give back.
Professionally, I am the Director of School and District Development- Texas of New Tech Network (NTN). Prior to that, I taught social studies and debate at Colleyville Heritage High School, was the associate principal of academics at Grapevine High School, and spent the last five years as the principal of New Tech High @ Coppell, a member school of the NTN. My proudest professional accomplishment to date was obtaining my Doctor of Education Leadership in 2021 from Dallas Baptist University.
